IRISH VISA SUPPORT

We cannot offer specific advice regarding visa requirements for Ireland as everyone’s circumstances are individual, but we will do our best to assist in any way that we can. We recommend that you please refer to the official Irish government immigration website - www.irishimmigration.ie - for the most up to date information. Please do not depend on information provided by private agencies. The Irish Immigration Service offers a short stay (Conference/Event) visa for visits of up to 90 days for those from visa-required countries. All short stay visas are also called ‘C’ visas.

You can find out more information regarding your personal requirements for attending a Conference in Ireland, including if the passport you will be using is issued by a country that is visa required here.

If you do require a visa to enter Ireland, we recommend that you start your visa application as early as you can. It is not possible to tell in advance exactly how long it will take for your visa application to be processed as each application is different and processing times can vary, but some can take a considerable amount of time, so please do start your application as early as possible.

You must apply for a visa before travelling. You must do this from your home country or the country where you are a legal resident. We strongly recommend that delegates apply for their visas well in advance - ideally at least three months before travelling to Ireland - to allow sufficient processing time.

Any requests for letters of support must be sent by email to conference@iaymh2026.org after your registration has been completed and paid in full. Please also indicate below that you will require a letter of support.

Please note, providing such a letter does not constitute any commitment whatsoever on the part of the IAYMH, the local co-hosts Jigsaw, or the Conference Organisers regarding the provision of a visa to enter Ireland, or to provide financial support of any kind. The Conference Organisers cannot provide or sign any electronic letters of guarantee or other electronic documents.

*Please note, visa letters from the Conference Organiser can only be issued once registration has been completed and paid in full.*

Please send an email to conference@iaymh2026.org and provide us with, at a minimum, your legal name (as it appears on your passport) and the country that issued your passport. Please also include any further information that is required for your individual visa application

PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS

All pre-conference Workshops will take place in the Convention Centre Dublin on Tuesday 24 November, 2026 from approximately 11:00 - 15:30 with a one hour break for lunch.

Please select your choice of Workshop from the following list:

Please note:

  • Workshops will only proceed if a minimum number of 15 participants is achieved
  • Workshop 12 (will be in the French Language): Learning From Each Other: Developing Data Collection and Measurement-Based Care Practices to Strengthen Youth Mental Health Services in French-Speaking Countries / Apprendre ensemble : développer des pratiques fondées sur la collecte de données et la mesure afin de renforcer les services de santé mentale destinés aux jeunes dans les pays francophones

This workshop aims to produce an initial draft declaration on lived experience in youth mental health. The declaration will function as a strategic and symbolic statement that reflects shared values and future directions, serving as a commitment for the future of lived experience in youth mental health. The draft will be circulated to key stakeholders for post-conference input. The final declaration will be sent to leaders, organizations (including youth- and user-led organizations), and individual experts in youth mental health for endorsement. We encourage young people, people with lived experience and allied researchers to attend this workshop.

Facilitators:

This workshop is designed to introduce participants to two key youth mental health resources developed by WHO Europe: the "Addressing Digital Determinants of Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing: Policy Brief" and "Quality Standards for Child and Youth Mental Health Services." The interactive session will provide an overview of the content of these resources and the development processes, with a focus on how young people were engaged throughout. It will also provide participants with an opportunity - working in small groups - to plan for adaptation and implementation of the resources in their own settings.

Facilitators:

Cassie Redlich, Mental Health and Well-being programme, WHO Regional Office for Europe

Jennifer Hall, WHO Athens Quality of Care and Patient Safety Office and Mental Health and Well-being programme, WHO Regional Office for Europe

In this workshop we will present a practical model of trauma-informed care that has been developed and researched at Orygen over the past 15 years. We will provide an overview of the effects of trauma on young people and the general principles of trauma-informed care. We will then present the Orygen model with particular emphasis on insights from trauma-exposed young people’s experiences of youth mental health services. The workshop will cover organisational and clinical aspects of a trauma-informed model as well as how trauma-informed principles can apply within non-clinical service delivery roles such as peer support and vocational recovery.

Facilitators:

Prof Sarah Bendall, Head of Trauma Research, Orygen and The Centre for Youth Mental Health, University of Melbourne. Clinical Psychologist, Orygen

Dr Wilma Peters, Honorary Senior Research Fellow, The Centre for Youth Mental Health, University of Melbourne

This interactive workshop explores how the arts can communicate the lived experience of psychosis, reduce stigma, and support recovery for young people. Young artists share work, including Nikola Beaumont, a member of the lived experience panel for the PSI-STAR PhD programme, a young poet with lived experience of psychosis who is from a minority community, and a young artist with lived experience of psychosis and eating disorder who will show how she has used art to help her recovery and to communicate with her treating team.

Participants will view a stop-motion film, hear poetry and visual art from diverse voices, and learn about Ireland’s Psychosis Arts Collective. Small-group discussions will examine impact and practical applications, offering ideas for using creative practice to foster empathy, improve communication, and enhance wellbeing in mental health care.

Youth mental health research and practice frequently rely on singular categories such as gender and ethnicity, overlooking how intersecting identities function within the broader systems of power and policy. This workshop will use an intersectional lens through a range of reflective and applied exercises. Participants will engage with the theoretical foundations of intersectionality, critically examine the positioning of Indigeneity, and learn to apply concepts to examples from research, policy, and practice.  Participants will leave with practical tools to integrate intersectionality meaningfully into their work, helping address mental health inequities. This workshop is suited for researchers, policymakers, academics, and community leaders.

In an era of hyper-connectivity and AI integration, maintaining authentic human connection while protecting wellbeing is increasingly complex. This interactive workshop explores how young people and practitioners can establish healthy digital boundaries without sacrificing belonging. Drawing on psychological theory and lived experience, we will examine the impact of algorithm-driven platforms on identity, relationships, and autonomy. Through guided discussion and practical exercises, participants will develop strategies to navigate digital spaces mindfully, resist algorithmic influence, and foster communities that prioritise connection, agency, and psychological safety in an AI-driven world.

This interactive workshop explores how schools can respond early to foodrelated difficulties, including disordered eating, within wholeschool wellbeing and suicide prevention frameworks. The session demonstrates that hope lies in building educator confidence to create safe, inclusive environments that reduce stigma and promote holistic mental health messaging.

Through case studies and codesign activities, participants will examine how strong partnerships with families and community mental health services strengthen pathways to care and encourage helpseeking.

Attendees will leave with practical tools and adaptable strategies to embed connected, compassionate approaches that support young people experiencing eating disorders or disordered eating behaviours.

This interactive workshop will equip participants with essential knowledge and practical tools to better understand, and support youth affected by adversity. Participants will explore how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) shape development, discover evidencebased factors to build resilience in youth, and learn actionable traumainformed care (TIC) strategies that they can apply in practice. Through interactive discussions, case studies, and realworld scenarios, attendees will practice empathydriven communication techniques that foster safety, connection, and trust. This training will empower participants to strengthen resilience, promote mental wellbeing, and help youth thrive despite the challenges they face.

Climate change is affecting young people's mental health in profound ways, from rising temperatures and environmental degradation to repeated climate disasters, yet evidence-based frameworks for responding remain scarce. This workshop introduces Environ-Mental Health (EMH), a new strength-based framework that redefines wellbeing through a psychosocial and environmental lens, rooted in connection to nature, place, and community. Through discussion and applied activities, participants will explore how the EMH framework and outcome measures were developed through co-design with young people, how they can inform epidemiological research, prevention and intervention design, and what they mean for health and climate policy.

Facilitators:

Associate Professor Caroline Gao, Head of Environ-Mental Health, Orygen, Centre for Youth Mental Health, The University of Melbourne

Dr Britt Wray, Director, CIRCLE | Community-minded Interventions for Resilience, Climate Leadership and Emotional wellbeing, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of Stanford Medicine

This interactive workshop introduces practical, youth-friendly participatory methods that help young people, researchers, clinicians, and policy makers co-design mental-health services that reflect real needs. Drawing on experience developing research with youth partners, participants will try hands-on activities, work in small teams to design brief co-design approaches, practise facilitating methods, and explore ways to analyse and share results. The session builds confidence in applying core youth-participatory principles and choosing when brief engagement approaches are appropriate. Attendees will leave with ready-to-use tools, practical skills, and ideas for meaningful, inclusive collaboration in research, service design, and policy. No prior experience or preparation is required.

Apprendre ensemble : développer des pratiques fondées sur la collecte de données et la mesure afin de renforcer les services de santé mentale destinés aux jeunes dans les pays francophones

In 2024, the francophone branch of IAYMH was created by clinicians and researchers in North America, Europe, and Africa. One objective is to address issues around data collection and use across French-speaking countries, including the scope of data collection and factors influencing its implementation. We organised a half-day workshop during the 2025 IAYMH conference to start this process. Data from this workshop was analysed and allows us to continue this iterative process in 2026. Our goal is to link core components of early intervention services to meaningful key performance indicators for service monitoring in French-speaking programmes.
