John Vanderslice

John Vanderslice recently retired as Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Central Arkansas. Formerly he taught at Little Rock University, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, and George Mason University. He has published over eighty short stories in anthologies and literary journals. His most recent novel is Nous Nous, an abduction drama, published by Braddock Avenue Books in 2021.  In retirement, he works at drawing and painting as well as a historical novel about Robert Stroud, the man better known as “The Birdman of Alcatraz.”

Stephanie Vanderslice

Stephanie Vanderslice teaches creative writing at the University of Central Arkansas and directs the Arkansas Writers MFA Workshop. Her most recent book is Teaching Creative Writing: The Essential Guide (Bloomsbury 2024). In addition to her novel, The Lost Son, she has published The Geek’s Guide to the Writing Life: An Instructional Memoir for the Rest of Us as well as five books and many essays on the teaching of creative writing. She is currently at work on a memoir and another novel while thinking hard about the implications of AI on the teaching of creative writing.
